Today, I turn 33 years old. Another year, another chapter in the story of my life as a wife, mother, teacher, and lifelong learner. I wanted to take this moment to share a little more about myself and why I started this Substack.
Who Am I?
I am a wife and a mother to four wonderful children. My journey in education and science has shaped who I am today. As an undergraduate, I immersed myself in science, earning degrees in chemistry, biology, and healthcare management. My love for research led me to study yeast for my biology capstone project—which might explain my deep love for baking sourdough. Later, I pursued a graduate degree in instructional design, focusing on how people learn. For my capstone, I developed a self-advocacy module for nurse residents, helping them gain confidence and autonomy in their profession.
I met my husband in college, and together, we’ve built a family centered around faith, learning, and tradition. My children are being educated in a classical pedagogy, reflecting my own desire for a well-rounded, truth-seeking education. During my studies, I took as many honors and philosophy courses as possible, believing that a true education is not just about knowledge but about wisdom.
Faith and Tradition
I am a practicing Catholic, deeply rooted in the perennial traditions of the Church. I believe our culture desperately needs a greater sense of piety—respect for the richness of our traditions. Nothing is new under the sun, and the wisdom of the Church, passed down through centuries, has so much to offer in every aspect of life.
Why This Substack?
I started this Substack because I saw a need for two things:
A Truly Catholic Perspective in Science Education – Science is a pursuit of truth, and as Catholics, we should embrace it fully, integrating faith and reason.
A Warm, Practical Catholic Living & Lifestyle Blog for Working Moms – As much as many of us would love to be stay-at-home moms, that isn’t always possible. But it is possible to have an enriching, faith-filled life while working. There is beauty in embracing both our vocations as mothers and as professionals.
Through this space, I hope to share science education from a Catholic perspective, practical ways to integrate faith into daily life, and encouragement for Catholic moms who are balancing it all. Thank you for being here, and I look forward to growing and learning alongside you.
Here’s to another year of faith, family, and discovery!
